The exhibition, housed in an elegant glass-walled space within the courtyard of Qasr al Muwaiji, tells the story of the fort and its inhabitants. It focuses in particular on HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. HH Sheikh Khalifa was born and raised at Qasr al Muwaiji, and it is fitting that it is now home to an exhibition celebrating his life and achievements.
The exhibition sets out the chronology of the members of Abu Dhabi’s ruling family with a connection to Qasr al Muwaiji. This impressive lineage stretches from Sheikh Zayed the First down to HH Sheikh Khalifa, and showcases the close and long-standing relationship between Qasr al Muwaiji and Abu Dhabi’s leaders.
Above all, the exhibition highlights the accomplishments of HH Sheikh Khalifa. It follows His Highness preparing for leadership with the guidance of his father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and then as President: investing in his people, extending the UAE’s regional and international influence, and leading the nation into the future.
Visitors can also explore the history of Al Muwaiji from the earliest traces of archaeological evidence through to today, and its significance as a family home, a place of rule and a focus for the community. There will be the opportunity to learn more about particular aspects of Qasr al Muwaiji’s history, such as its role as a host to visiting travellers and the importance of water to its survival and success.
Beyond the main exhibition space, visitors can experience the historic buildings and impressive courtyard of Qasr al Muwaiji, soaking up the atmosphere. The rejuvenation of the fort has created a place of learning, understanding and appreciation.
