His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan
HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan was born at Qasr al Muwaiji in 1948, the eldest son of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the Father of the Nation. HH Sheikh Khalifa spent much of his youth there, observing, and later assisting, his father in his duties as Ruler’s Representative in Al Ain. At Qasr al Muwaiji, HH Sheikh Khalifa learnt the importance of justice, openness, and responsibility: an understanding that would serve him well throughout his life and leadership.
Sheikh Zayed was appointed Ruler of Abu Dhabi in 1966, and HH Sheikh Khalifa became a diligent deputy: meeting international officials; overseeing the development of communications, education and healthcare; and, after the creation of the UAE in 1971, working alongside his father for the betterment of the whole nation.
When the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan (May God Bless His Soul) passed away on 19th of Ramadan 1425 his cherished and respected son, HH Sheikh Khalifa, was unanimously elected as the President of the UAE. As President, His Highness would lead the nation in a period of great transformation: broadening global horizons and empowering the citizens of the Emirates.
His Highness has invested in the advancement of the nation, ensuring a diverse economy, developing infrastructure, and promoting culture and sport. Thanks to HH Sheikh Khalifa’s fairness and diplomacy, the UAE has become a regional pioneer, advocating stability and supporting economic and social development across the Arab world. His Highness has also nurtured international relations and, in line with his long-standing commitment to the environment, the UAE is now a global leader in sustainable energy. HH Sheikh Khalifa’s generous donations of humanitarian aid across the world, as well as his philanthropy in the UAE, underscore his altruism and generosity.
With the guidance and vision of HH Sheikh Khalifa, the UAE has become a forward-thinking and internationally esteemed nation.
